As the trucks roll out of town, the gates are closed and the region discusses the event that was Beef 2012, the team at The Waterline Restaurant are continuing to fly the flag and celebrate the successes of the Beef Event.

In the Beef 2012 Restaurant Awards for Excellence, The Waterline took home three awards, including the coveted Best Beef Signature Dish.  With accommodation on the Coast booked out during Beef week, The Waterline has served record numbers of their award winning dishes; the signature Banana Station Beef and Barramundi, the Fillet Steak and the Teriyaki Beef burger.

The Waterline Restaurant at Keppel Bay Marina is owned by the Wilson Family who operate the Banana Station Beef Cattle Enterprises in Central Queensland.  The Waterline exclusively serves their own MSA grass fed beef processed at Fitzroy by JBS Australia.

Following huge successes in Beef 2009, Banana Station again won a swag of Beef 2012 awards including the Champion Pen of Crop/Pasture fed Fed Heifers at the Australian Beef Cattle Championships 2012.

“We take pride in serving our Banana Station Beef” says Kylie Smith, general manager of Keppel Bay Marina “it is great to have the whole family involved ‘from paddock to plate’ as they say, but even better when it means we have access to the best grass fed beef available!”

The beef served at The Waterline Restaurant in coming months will be from the Champion line of heifers that won the awards.

Being grass fed, Banana Station beef offers the superior flavour that grass fed beef is known for.  The MSA tenderness guarantee, combined with the best handling and cooking methods ensures we can deliver the best product on the plate.

“Our focus on serving the best beef and best local seafood doesn’t stop after the event” says Kylie, “While the award acknowledgements are great, and promote to everyone what we do to the broader community, it is our customers who give feedback every day who provide the greatest satisfaction.”

Because of our beef cattle heritage, and because we believe in the product, Banana Station Beef is on the menu for Breakfast, lunch and Dinner at the Waterline.

“We have boats that cruise through and stop in each year, just to dine at The Waterline enjoy their Banana Station Beef” says Kylie, “and in the past week we have had guests from around the world, who have sung the praises of the meals they have enjoyed… it is a big achievement to serve a table of 10 Texans the best steak they have ever eaten!!!”
